Annual health checks for people with learning disabilities

NHS England wants to increase the number of people with a learning disability having good annual health checks. To encourage GPs to do the health checks they will now be paid more by NHS England. There is also a new template to help GPs do good annual health checks. This is called the National Electronic Health Check (Learning Disabilities) clinical template. Computer systems are being changed to make this easy for GPs to use.

There are resources to support people with a learning disability, their families and carers to access annual health checks called ‘Don’t Miss Out!’.

The video below explains more about why the annual health checks are important.
