About The Partnership Board |

The Partnership Board is a meeting. It happens 4 times a year. It is where people who plan or use local services come together and talk about how to make things better.
Why did the Partnership Board start?
In 2001 the Government published the White Paper ‘Valuing People’. The White Paper is a list of changes that could improve the lives of people with learning disabilities and their carers. The White Paper happened because the Government knew that people with learning disabilities and their carers didn’t have the choices and opportunities they wanted.
To make the changes in Valuing People happen, the Government said that things needed to be done locally and that every area, like Leeds, needed to start a Partnership Board.
The Partnership Board has members with learning disabilities, carers, people who work in health, social services, education and people from voluntary and community organisations. This is so that everyone has a say and so that the plans are what people want. Other people also because they interested in what is happening and what to hear what members think.
The Partnership Board works through the list of ideas in Valuing People. This is a big list, but it includes:
