Disabled children should get the best start in life and should benefit from education, health and social care.

Government White Paper – 'Valuing People'

Chapter 3 Children

(children Symbol)

This chapter provides information on all the different agencies and organisations that may be able to help a child with learning disabilities. Information in other sections may be useful too, but this chapter is especially about children.

Leeds Social Services produce a booklet called 'You Should Know' which has been written for parents and carers of children with disabilities in Leeds. They have far more information than it is possible to fit into this directory.

To obtain copies contact:

The Development Officer for Children with Disabilities in Social Services
Tel: 247 8667 (A new edition will be available early 2003).
