Court Of Protection

Home > Directory Contents > Choice And Control > Court of Protection

If a person is unable (due to their learning disability) to manage his or her own affairs, then an appropriate person (e. g. social worker, relative) can apply to the Court of Protection. The Court of Protection is able to appoint a Receiver for those people who it considers to need its services. For example, this could be to make a Will or sell property.

Good advice about this issue is essential.

For more information contact the Court of Protection Tel: 0207 664 7330.

Some solicitors or financial advisors may also be able to help and you can get help from Citizens Advice Bureaux
