4) Getting support from

A house mate (also called a support tenant)

 Good Points:  Bad Points:
 Provide security while you
learn independence skills.
 You may not always
get on.

Community Support Volunteer (CSV)

 Good Points:  Bad Points:
 Can be more like a
friend than a carer.
 They may want to move
on too early.

Outreach or floating support in your home

 Good Points:  Bad Points:
You can still live alone.  It is not 24 hour support.
 Same support if you move.

Network/core and cluster support

 Good Points:  Bad Points:
 Access to support but
also independence.
 Could be inflexible.
 Can't take support with
you if you move on.

A circle of support

 Good Points:  Bad Points:
Will help to make sure the whole of
your life is the best it can be.
 You may disagree with some
members of your circle.

Family or friends

 Good Points:  Bad Points:
 Can support you even
if you move.
You may want to be less
dependent on your family.
