The Inspection Unit has now become the Leeds and Bradford Area Office of the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) . Inspectors and support staff have transferred from health authorities and local authorities to the NCSC.
The National Care Standards Commission is a non-departmental public body. It regulates and inspects various services including care homes, domiciliary care agencies and day centres. The Commission also investigates complaints against registered services and reports to the Secretary of State on the range and quality of regulated services.
