The 5 Primary Care Trusts in Leeds are responsible for planning and delivering health services previously provided by Leeds Health Authority. Leeds Health Authority will combine with other Health Authorities in West Yorkshire to become the West Yorkshire Health Authority.
These Primary Care Trusts work with local people, including people with learning disabilities, to improve the health of people in Leeds by:
They also work together to provide certain citywide services. The North East PCT has the lead role in co-ordinating the work around services for people with learning disabilities, and works closely with the JointCommissioningService in planning and commissioning new services. A Health Inequalities and Modernisation Board has been set up to assist the Primary Care Trusts with these tasks.The Learning Disability Partnership Board also has an important role to play see Leeds Learning Disability Partnership Board.
