Special Care Units at ATCs

Some people may need extra facilities and staff because they have both learning and physical disabilities. Special Care is offered at Horsforth, Ramshead Wood, Rothwell and West Ardsley Adult Training Centres. Nurses provide extra care and support in the Special Care Units for people who needs it.

People with Behavioural Difficulties

Some people may need extra facilities and staff because of the way in which their behaviour challenges services. All centres have a limited number of places for people with behavioural difficulties.

People from Minority Ethnic Communities at ATCs

At present, only a small number of places are taken up by people from minority ethnic communities at the 8 Adult Training Centres. In trying to address this inbalance, and to make training centres more appropriate for minority ethnic communities, there is a Peripatetic Day Centre Officer who aims to make centres more accessible to people from minority ethnic communities. He is able to visit carers and clients at home and offer advice and support. He can speak fluently in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.
