The Care Standards Act

This Act, effective from April 2003, replaces the Registered Homes Act (1984) and creates the National Care Standards Commission (instead of the old Registration and Inspection Units).

As a result of this Act there will need to be changes to some of the physical requirements of buildings, and Domiciliary Care Services and Family Placement Services will now need to be registered.
