Battle Scars – Self harm peer support
Battle Scars – Self harm peer support
Battle Scars' aim is to support anybody affected by self-harm. This includes those who self-harm and those supporting them, make sure they no longer feel alone and to break down the stigma.
The groups are suitable for any adults who self-harm (from scratching and cutting to overdosing and eating disorders) and those who support them (if you’re a professional attending on your own, please email or ring Battle Scars so that they can maintain a good balance at the group).
Battle Scars offer support in lots of different ways:
Face-to-Face groups:
- Weekly Monday Evening 16-25 Group (6.30pm to 8pm)
- Fortnightly Tuesday Evening 18+ Group (6.30pm to 8pm)

All face-to-face groups are drop in, no booking required. There is a meet and greet at the door 10 minutes before the start of each group.
Weekly virtual groups on Zoom. To sign up for the groups fill in a short form on the website with your name and email address. The up to date times and days of these groups can be found on a calendar here. We also offer virtual groups to family and friends and an online monthly social group.
For first time users of Battle Scars' services there is the FRESH service. This is a one off phone call that can be used to talk to a volunteer about self-harm and also ask any questions about what support is offered.
A Facebook peer support group which is heavily moderated.
An addiction workbook for people aged 18+ and a discovery journey for 10-17. These are books to help people understand and manage their self-harm.
