EasyRead news update 2nd November 2020 — Lockdown is starting Thursday 5th November in West Yorkshire
On Thursday 5th November a new national lockdown is planned for all regions of England.
The lockdown is planned to stay in place until Wednesday 2nd December.
The rules for national lockdown are,
- You must stay at home as much as possible.
You can leave your house for these reasons only,
- Take children to school, nursery or childcare.
- To go to work, if you can not work from home.
- To escape from violence at home.
- To exercise outdoors.
- For medial reasons and appointments.
- To take care of vulnerable people or to volunteer.
- To buy food and essential items.
- To see people in your support bubble.
- You are allowed meet 1 person outdoors You can only meet in a big public space like a park. You can not meet in your own gardens.
- You can not spend time with anyone indoors you do not live with, unless they are in your support bubble.
- Up to 30 people can still attend a funeral.
- Weddings and civil partnerships are not allowed.
- Most travel to other countries will be banned.
- Holidays to the U.K will be cancelled.
- You can only stay away from you home for a reason like work.
- Nurseries, schools and universities will stay open.
- Only essential shops are allowed to open.
- Pubs, restaurants and leisure centres have to close.
- Take-aways and food delivery services will stay open.
- Job centres and courts will stay open.
- Local spots that you might take part in have to stop.
- Big events, like premier league football will still happen. But there will be no crowd watching.
- National lock down is for the whole of England and will start Thursday 5th of November.

New Coronavirus COVID-19 rules – September 23rd 2020
The Prime Minister Boris Johnson said there are new rules that everyone must follow, to help stop the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.

- You must still follow the rule of 6.

- Pubs, bars and restaurants will close at 10:00PM
-
- Pubs, bars and restaurants will take your order at your table. Someone will bring your food and drink to your table after you have made your order.

- If you are in a restaurant and not sitting down you need to wear a mask.
-
- Face masks must be worn by bar staff.
-
- You should work from home if you can.
-
- Only 15 people are allowed at a wedding.
-
- Fans are not allowed to go and watch sports events.
-
- If you are in an indoor sports team you must follow the rule of 6.
- Fines for not wearing masks or following are £200 for first offence.
You must follow these new rules starting on Wednesday 23rd September 2020.

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson said there are new rules about meeting people he called it ‘the rule of six’.
This is about no more than six people being together in a group inside or outside of your home.
You must follow the rules starting on Monday 14th September 2020.

The Government have created some badges that can be used to show the carrier may have difficulties or concerns in maintaining social distancing.
The badges can be used to signal to others around them that they need to pay attention and be given space.

First Bus has updated their mobile phone app. This now shows how many spaces are free on the bus.
This is so that when the next bus is arriving you can check if there is enough room for you to get on the bus.
The First Bus mobile phone app will show you a picture of a bus on a map. You will be able to see where the bus is and how many free spaces are on the bus.
The First Bus mobile phone app also will show you if a person on the bus is using a wheelchair.
You can use the First Bus mobile phone app on Apple and Android phones.

A small task and finish group within Leeds City Council have been working to provide translated and audio materials in 11 different languages: Polish, Romanian, Urdu, Arabic, Czech, Punjabi, Tigrinya, Farsi, Slovak, Kurdish Sorani and Bengali.
There are three different videos which focus on,

Get coronavirus support as a clinically extremely vulnerable person
If you have a medical condition which makes you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus also known ad COVID-19, you can the register and tell the government whether or not you need support.
You may have received a letter from the NHS telling you that you’re clinically extremely vulnerable, or been contacted by your GP or hospital clinician.
If this has not happened by Monday 30 March, contact your GP or clinician after you register with this service.

The story will help people to understand what to do if you have Coronavirus and how to keep yourself and those who you care about safe.
It also shows how to safely help others who may be self-isolating.
Text at the end of the story gives information on where people can seek help if they are unwell and signposts to other useful resources.
The story has been designed to prompt conversations with people with learning disabilities about the virus, talk about their fears and reassure them.
The pictures are currently in black and white, but we wanted to make them available now to anyone who is in urgent need. We’ll be updating the resource with colour pictures as our artist finishes them.

Joint statement from Leeds City Council political group leaders
The leaders of the six different political groups represented on Leeds City Council have issued a joint statement to reassure residents that councillors are still available to help, support and represent Leeds residents during the COVID-19 crisis.
The political group leaders of the Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat, Green, Morley Borough Independents, and Garforth and Swillington Independents groups said:
“We would like to let the people of Leeds know that their elected councillors all across the city remain available to help, support and represent them during these extremely challenging times. While councillors have had to stop in person meetings and interactions with residents, they are still contactable and available to help people if needed. The best way of doing this is via email, telephone or over social media.
“COVID-19 has already affected the lives of everyone in Leeds in some way, so it is more important than ever that elected representatives are available to support their communities during these troubling times. We are here to help so please do get in touch.”

This might be somewhere or someone you already have contact with such as a
school, college, social worker, housing officer or it could be a provision in your local area such as a Community Hub.

The service is for anyone suffering any form of grief and loss.
It is also for people worried about losing someone, whether this is a family member, friend or member of their community.

The team can offer support and help connect you with organisations local to you, who can offer additional help where needed.

Advonet and Leeds Autism AIM Keeping Neurodivergent People Connected in Leeds
Advonet and Leeds Autism AIM are involved in the new local Keeping Neurodivergent People Connected project, coordinated by the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health Care Partnership and Inclusion North.
Short term information support will be provided for people in Leeds with neurodivergent conditions including autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD, as well as people with learning disabilities.
This will be on top of the support already provided by Leeds Autism AIM as part of Advonet. The Keeping Neurodivergent People Connected service will provide information by phone, email and text on staying safe during the COVID-19 crisis.

- You can get information on how to stay safe and well during the Coronavirus outbreak.
- You can find out about local support in your area.
- You can get a regularly call if you need support.

Print the sheets out onto A4 paperand cut out.
Next time you are in a video meeting you can hold the cards to the camera when you need to say something.

Some people are more likely to get very ill or even die from coronavirus. This does not mean you will die but you might be more likely to.
This is based on the numbers and research so far. It could change as we learn more.
This includes people with learning disabilities who seem to have a different experience to other people.
People with a learning disability were more likely to die from this virus in March and April.

Before the outbreak of coronavirus there were very few reports of Chinese people reports of Chinese people becoming victims of hate crime.
