Police Service Volunteers Wanted
Police Service Volunteers Wanted
West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are looking for volunteers for their Volunteering Programme.
Police Service Volunteers are people who give up their spare time to help West Yorkshire Police or West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
They want more people with learning disabilities to join as Community Volunteers.
Volunteering allows people to meet new people, learn new skills and help the police and fire service to understand issues affecting people with learning disabilities.
Community Volunteers are required for a range of things, such as,
- Helping at events at the police or fire station.
- Leaflet drops.
- Crime Prevention Advice.
- Speedwatch.
In order to do this, West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are looking for 2 or 3 Volunteering/Employment Co-ordinators from organisations who support people with learning disabilities.
These people would be enrolled as Police Service Volunteers, and would be directed to volunteering opportunities.
The idea is that the Volunteers would assist with coordinating up to 10 people with learning disabilities to attend events.
People with learning disabilities would be given the title of Community Volunteers.
Volunteers will have to undergo police vetting and apply to the PSV scheme.
